Original Headphone: Authenticity of the Major Series

🔊 Listen to the article:

Original Headphone: What am I actually buying? This is one of the most common questions we receive.

In this guide, we explain everything you need to know to shop with confidence — understanding exactly what you are purchasing and how to confirm the origin of your device, especially for the Major Headphones Series.

Original Headphone: Authenticity verification of Original and OEM models

✅ How to Differentiate an Authentic Headphone from an OEM

To help you verify if your Original Headphone possesses the necessary authentic features or to determine if it is an OEM product or a counterfeit, here are the key details to analyze (focusing on the Major Series).

Note: At Headphones Brasil, we primarily work with OEM models, which are high-quality versions of the originals, as many models have been discontinued in the traditional market.

An OEM is technically identical to the original, but produced through processes that make it more affordable at the time of purchase.

Every Original Headphone in our product line is delivered with this standard:

  • Sealed product with original packaging
  • Shipped with all original accessories
  • All products are brand new
  • Scannable QR Code on the box
  • Barcode present on all packaging

🔍 QR Code Verification

You can also verify if your Original Headphone can be scanned via the internal QR Code present in the Major Series (such as Major III and Major IV), as well as ANC models (Mid ANC and Monitor II ANC).

When scanned, the QR Code displays the product's unique Serial Number.

Note: Some OEM version products may not feature an internal QR Code or one on the base of the box, as they may have been discontinued or their production cost was slightly lower.

This does not mean the product is inauthentic — the QR Code is simply an additional verification layer, not the sole indicator of authenticity.

🎧 Original Headphone vs OEM: What Is the Difference?

We work with both original products and OEM versions. OEM headphones share the same core characteristics as original products, but are mostly manufactured in different countries through cost-optimization processes that maintain original components — which is why they are offered at more accessible prices for the end consumer.

Additionally, many models discontinued by global brands continue to be produced by licensed factories for the OEM market.

There are, however, a few important technical differences:

  • The Major III OEM does not include the Aptx Codec — only the original version carries this technology of American/British origin.

  • The Major IV, both original and OEM, includes the Aptx Codec. However, the OEM version does not connect to the manufacturer's official app.
